Welcome to the XXIIIrd Board Game Studies colloquium
The Board Game Studies colloquium is a 4-day online conference that will take place on 13-16 April 2021. It is organized by the laboratory EXPERICE (University Paris 13), Game in Lab and the LabEx ICCA.
The annual BGS colloquium is an interdisciplinary forum for scholars and practitioners from many fields and disciplines. This convergence allows game studies to be approached from multiple points of view: the research findings and knowledge disseminated in past colloquia have embraced archaeological evidence, cross-cultural connections, mathematical, psychological and social implications of past and present gaming practices.
The evolutions of Board Games
The theme for this edition is « the evolutions of Board Games ».
This refers to the transformations of board games in terms of material, game play or mechanics as well as the evolutions of the players, of the social spaces of play, or the ways board games are designed, crafted, sold or acquired.
